  • Alpine climbing and mountaineering is a thrilling adventure that many people aspire to. Perhaps you have gazed at the majestic peaks of Mount Blanc, Matterhorn, or Marmolada during your holidays in France, Switzerland, or Italy and thought to yourself, “I want to climb that.” Are you ready to make your dream a reality? Whether you want to climb in the Dolomites on your trip to Italy, tackle classic climbs in Chamonix, or scale Matterhorn, Ascension Adventures can prepare you for the challenge with a personalised course.
  • Alpine climbing is a serious undertaking that requires a range of skills. Our course can be customised to suit your goals and is designed to help you achieve them safely, efficiently, and enjoyably.

Here are some examples:

  • You want to climb the Normal Route up Cima Grande in the Dolomites, which is a long climb with sections of serious scrambling on loose rock. The descent involves multiple abseils. You will need to have good simultaneous climbing, scrambling, and efficient abseiling skills. Ascension Adventures can find a combination of routes in North Wales, the Lakes, or Scotland to help you practice these skills within a day.
  • You want to climb something bigger and more challenging that involves sections of alpine aid climbing, bivvying on exposed ledges, long simultaneous scrambling up ridges, abseiling descent, and self-rescue scenarios. We can fit these elements into a two or more day course.
  • If your objective involves snow and ice, we can split the programme into summer rock and winter skills with crampons and ice axes. The traverse of the Cuillin Ridge, the ultimate alpine adventure in Britain, is an excellent option that combines many skills which will help prepare you for Alpine climbs abroad.
