- Are you ready to take your mountain adventures to the next level? At Ascension Adventures, we believe that every mountain has more than one way to the top. For example, Tryfan has many scrambling routes graded 1-3 in addition to the walking path. Our Scrambling and Mountaineering course can initiate you to this whole new world of adventure and develop your skills.
- Whether you want to learn how to scramble, transition from hill walking to mountaineering, experience classic mountain routes, improve your skills, or plan your own adventure, we have got you covered. You will learn efficient, smooth, and confident movement and safety skills in scrambling terrain, including techniques for moving together with a rope, down climbing, and abseiling. We will also teach you to develop judgement on safe holds and anchors, so you can get up and down the mountain safely.
- On the course you will do classic scrambling routes, summit a top, and scramble down. With our expert guidance, you can explore some of the most incredible routes in the UK, including the east face of Tryfan, Crib y Ddysgl, Cneifion Arete on Glyder Fawr, Tower Ridge on Ben Nevis, Pinnacle Ridge on St Sunday Crag, or Needle Ridge on Great Gable.
- Our course covers everything from kit and equipment to weather conditions, guidebooks and route finding, navigation, movement coaching, judgement, ropework, problem solving, and experience of different scrambling terrain of grade 1-3. You will also learn quick and safe belay anchors, direct and indirect belay methods, and how to keep yourself and your scrambling partner safe at belays.
